What exactly does the cogvis AI sensor do?

The cogvis sensor is a 3D-infrared smart sensor designed for care settings (nursing homes, assisted living, hospitals, etc.). It uses real-time depth data and built-in AI to detect critical situations — most importantly falls — with high precision. It can alert staff or caregivers immediately, reducing response times and helping prevent injuries.

Does it use cameras or record video or images?

No — cogvis does not use conventional cameras. Instead it uses 3D depth sensing, so it captures anonymised depth data rather than identifiable video. This approach is privacy-friendly: it monitors movement and risk without compromising resident dignity or personal privacy.

Can cogvis do more than just detect falls?

Yes. While fall detection is one core function, cogvis offers a modular system — you choose the “safety package” that fits your facility. Beyond falls, depending on configuration, it can monitor absence, bed exit, restlessness, risk of pressure ulcers, behaviour patterns for dementia support, and more. This makes it a flexible tool for both reactive and proactive care.
